Lauren, E-RYT 500, has been teaching and practicing yoga and meditation for over 13 years and is in graduate school at Buddhist college, Naropa, for Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Psychology and has done meditation trainings with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She is Reiki Level 2 and Thai Body Work certified.
Lauren teaches a mindful, yet powerful, dynamic flow that feels like a dance, syncing breath to movement. Her sequencing comes from her lineage, a blend of ashtanga, Jonny Kest power flow, and Jivamukti. She weaves in yogic philosophy for you to incorporate on and off the mat, as well as chanting mantra with harmonium. Expect space to experience silence for you to go within and have your own practice, with community. You’ll be encouraged to meet your edge, then soften.
Off the mat, you will find Lauren surfing or enjoying the outdoors. She volunteers with Beaches Go Green and has a corporate job where she also teaches Mindfulness.
Jonny Kest has shared, "You stop seeing the poses as idealized linear shapes that you try to achieve, but as tools for learning and moving towards a deeper level of self-understanding and acceptance. You no longer use your body to get into a pose, but instead use the pose to get into your body."
Sharon Gannon with Jivamukti Yoga, “You cannot do yoga. Yoga is your natural state. What you can do are yoga exercises, which may reveal to you where you are resisting your natural state.”
